Clemens writes to his future father-in-law regarding and incedent that had aroused his displeasure. "I accept the rebuke freely & without offer of defence, & am as sorry I offended as if I had intended offence." He continues to speak of his good rapport with people & to give references he may contact. Clemens writes, "I am not hurrying my love--it is my love that is hurrying me."
